Youth Program

Many youth-based services restrict youth that are more than 21 years old or labelled “High Risk”, often due to gang affiliations, drug use, or criminal histories.

This inability to access resources frequently causes youth to be pushed further into street culture as a means of survival.

The high prevalence of mental health and substance use disorders also means youth are less likely to make bail or have healthy family support, promoting a cycle of costly justice issues at the client and system levels.

The Hub’s Youth Program (for ages 17-25) seeks to address these concerns through the following methods:

  • Interrupting cycles of violence and addressing crises early on before further damage is inflicted

  • Helping to navigate the criminal justice system so effective progress can be made

  • Transporting and accompanying youth to appointments and meetings to promote resource access

  • Exploring interpersonal relationships that might cause harm and supporting emotional needs as required

  • Providing supports to youth on the street and acting as a point-of-care access to resources

  • Meeting and interacting in group or foster homes to provide accessible supports in a known environment

  • Resolving disputes through restorative approaches and circle practices

  • Providing access to drop-in services for high-risk youth on Saturdays from 7 - 11 PM
